Upon inspection, the foot may have an arch while non–weight bearing but flattens with weight bearing. There is a variable spectrum of presentation from flexible to rigid. The clinical examination should include a generalized overview of the foot type, a gait analysis, and an examination of the foot and ankle in both weight bearing and non–weight bearing.
